I am so excited to announce that I am launching a T-Shirt Campaign! Well that is my plan (insert evil laughing) I have all my ducks in a row and want to make sure I do it right. I am really excited about this and if all else would like to see where it could go in the future, and maybe do more to help others as well. This campaign will be to Help my Dad’s new Heart Superheroes.xyz style! I have no idea what to expect, it may not make a dime or it could make ten dollars one way or another I will be happy that I tried. This will most likely be a test run for future endeavors with myself, the website, people in the future or even organizations doing great things.

I wanted to start off with the question some might be asking, what does this have to do with anything related to my site, superheroes or anything geeky? The answer is simple. My real life superhero! My Dad (along with my Mom of course) has been my real superhero from the day I was born! Everything that he has been through with or without a cape, I am still blessed everyday to have him around. He is the one that guided me on my fandom geeky path with the firsts being Star Trek and StarGate. I want to be there for him yet again and hope I can raise some funds for his new adventure and new life.
If you haven’t been following on Twitter, my Dad got a new heart yes as in heart transplant back in May of this year! We are still adjusting to the new expenses that have come about since then. My Dad had a mechanical heart device known as the LVAD Left Ventricular Assist Device for 7 years until he got an actual new heart this year. We are used to medical expenses and coped with them over the years. I had started an actual fundraiser/organization called Help Dad’s Heart back in 2009 to get Dad the heart machine as it was his only option at the time.
I am always hesitant asking for anything or fundraising as I know everyone has there own issues, medical bills, and things going on in their own life. We as a family just need a little help getting over this new hurdle that has brought us to the beginning of a new journey. My Dad and I have been talking about it since he was released out of the hospital back in June, I didn’t just want to ask people straight up and was hesitant to open a Go Fund Me account. I know some people are hesitant to donate to them and the controversies with some, not all but some.
I decided to do the t shirt campaign through Represent.com. I discovered the company through some of my favorite celebrities and an organization I have previously interviewed as well. I did some research to see if there was anything I can do for my site and it was the first thing that came to mind when Dad said “Can we try to raise some funds to help out for a bit?” Stars like Jared Padalecki (Supernatural), Felicia Day (Geek & Sundry), have raised money for their campaigns and causes that mean a lot to them as well.
The project was inspired by none other than my Supernatural (Fandom) Family! Yes the generosity of everyone and a few people I have been interacting with via cyber space has inspired the creation! A cyber friend I met online wrote me a poem in regarding my site and I. I loved it, while I was researching other things and what I could put on a shirt, her words came to mind. This ensued my genius (I hope so) idea.
The final design will be shown soon, the colors that will be available were inspired by some of my favorite superheroes. Captain America, Wonder Woman, Hawkeye, the Hulk, these shirts can also multi represent! They can double as representation for a cause, Red is for Heart Awareness, Green is for Mental Health awareness and so on. I wanted them to be universal as everyone in one form or another is a superhero, whether to yourself to others, or the people around you in general.
