Of all things I could possibly write about I decided to quickly write something up on the new movie coming out this weekend, Gifted. Starring Chris Evans, Mcckenna Grace and Octavia Spencer along with a great cast. I had the chance to see a pre screening of the movie that comes out April 7th 2017.
The film description as from the Fox Searchlight site: Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is a single man raising a child prodigy – his spirited young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace) – in a coastal town in Florida. Frank’s plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the 7-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank’s formidable mother, Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan), whose plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary.
I try to avoid spoilers for the sake of it I am just going to say this post may contain spoilers which its hard to spoil the movie. There is your warning.
It seems as of lately, well for awhile now Hollywood has been lacking original content, this movie was refreshing. Aside from all the Superhero flicks, action movies, reboots and Redos (although I still love those) it was nice to see something different.
Prepare for your emotions to be violated because mine were, I don’t get teary eyed often during movies, even those flicks that 90 percent of the people cry on. This movie is added to my list that got to me, one of the other ones was Tarzan when I was a kid. There are so many different moments in this movie that tugs on the heart strings and got to me more than once. The happiest of moments or the saddest one way or another I am sure even a single man tear will shed.
Aside from violated emotions, it was nice to see Chris Evans (who plays Frank Adler in the film) take on another role besides Captain America. Not that there is anything wrong with it at all, it’s nice to see actors with extended roles who can take on any role and make it a great one! Some actors get type casted and never see them again except for B line films and movies you can believe were made, I don’t mean that in the best way.
The cast was great and is definitely a feel good movie! The emotions were felt throughout the crowd with all the ups and down the movie shared with the audience. I think one of my favorite parts of the movie was Fred, you will know who I am talking about when you see it!
I enjoyed this movie and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, since I loved it so much I am ecstatic that I got gifted at the pre screening. I won a little gift bag with some great movie merchandise in it!
